Native Oak Pruning — Ranchland Acres, Redding

Mature native oaks had grown approximately seven feet into an established view toward Mount Shasta and Mount Lassen. Selective reduction and thinning restored the sightlines while retaining the mature trees.

Save Mart — Churn Creek Road, Redding

Approximately 140 young and developing parking-lot trees were selectively pruned for structural development while retaining appropriate foliage and temporary branches. Follow-up photographs show the trees approximately one growing season later.

Holiday Market

Mature trees were selectively cleaned, thinned, and raised. Follow-up photographs approximately 4½ years later show relatively little new deadwood and continued woundwood development around the pruning cuts.

130-Foot Gray Pine — Ranchland Acres, Redding

A roughly 130-foot gray pine leaning toward a residence was directionally felled into a restricted landing corridor while retaining surrounding mature oaks.

Igo Post-Fire Fuels Reduction

On a 52-acre post-fire property in Igo, Shasta Tree Pro treated 39 acres after the land was burned by the Carr Fire and later reburned by the Zogg Fire. Mechanical mastication addressed the more accessible ground, while our crew concentrated on steep ravines, slopes and terrain beyond effective machine access.

The work reduced fire-damaged trees, accumulated woody debris and hazardous fuels across difficult terrain where hand-crew access was essential. The project photographs document the original post-fire conditions, cleanup in progress and the treated hillsides with selected trees retained.

Swasey Recreation Area — West Redding

Shasta Tree Pro completed approximately 60 acres of fuels-reduction work along the single-track trail system at Swasey Recreation Area in West Redding. Hired by the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District for work on BLM-managed land, our crew treated roughly 50 feet to either side of the trails.

The hand work primarily removed dense manzanita, brush and small trees up to approximately 12 inches in diameter. Cut material was consolidated into burn piles according to CAL FIRE direction and was later treated by CAL FIRE during a prescribed burn.

Five-Acre Defensible Space & Fuels Reduction — Old Alturas Road, East Redding

This approximately five-acre property on Old Alturas Road in East Redding was selectively treated by hand for defensible space and wildfire fuel reduction. The rolling-to-steep property contained manzanita, buckbrush, volunteer trees, poison oak, overcrowded small trees, and dead and down oak and pine material.

Hand crews using chainsaws selectively removed dead, dying and overcrowded vegetation, reduced ladder fuels up to approximately 12 feet where appropriate, and created greater horizontal and vertical separation between fuels. Desirable trees and vegetation were retained to preserve shade, privacy and the wooded character of the property.

Approximately 95% of the material that was cut was chipped and broadcast back into the site, with the chips blended into the existing ground surface. A small portion was consolidated for later disposal during the appropriate permitted burn period.

The work followed applicable CAL FIRE defensible-space and fuel-separation principles while deliberately avoiding an indiscriminate cleared appearance. The finished property retains a natural, wooded, park-like setting while substantially reducing continuous surface and ladder fuels.
