Trenton Thompson has worked in arboriculture in the Redding area for more than 30 years.
Training and hands-on experience
Trenton cut his teeth in San Francisco and the Bay Area, where plants and space are at a premium and tree work demands close attention to detail. He brought that same careful approach to Redding, where he built Shasta Tree Pro. His work ranges from fine pruning of established landscape trees to the controlled removal of large trees around homes, pools, and commercial buildings.
Trenton personally inspects and estimates projects, plans the work, works on site, and supervises the crew. The Our Work gallery documents completed projects with photographs, locations, tree sizes, and site conditions.
Redding-area tree care
More than three decades of local work includes native oaks and gray pines, trees affected by Redding's heat and drought stress, and pruning or removals within restricted residential and commercial sites.
Shasta Tree Pro serves Redding, Palo Cedro, Shasta Lake, and Anderson.
How decisions are made
During an estimate, Trenton evaluates the tree's structure and condition, the client's desired result, nearby buildings and other targets, and the access and landing space available. Those factors determine whether the appropriate response is pruning, staged restoration, monitoring, or removal.
For pruning, the goal is to address the actual objective while retaining useful canopy and natural form where practical. Large removals may be directionally felled when the site provides an appropriate landing area, or dismantled in controlled sections when buildings, landscaping, or limited access require it.

Our pruning practices
We don't routinely top trees, lion-tail canopies, make flush cuts, or use climbing spikes on trees being retained.
Topping is considered only when absolutely necessary. We use properly placed pruning cuts and recommend alternatives such as crown reduction, restoration pruning, or replacement when those options better address the problem.
