Tree evaluation

Prune, monitor or remove? Start with the evidence.

A useful assessment considers the whole tree, the site and what could be struck—not merely one alarming feature.

What we evaluate

Trenton looks at species, vigor, crown condition, branch unions, cavities, decay indicators, trunk movement, root-zone changes, soil and irrigation conditions, lean, prevailing exposure and nearby targets.

The recommendation may be corrective pruning, changing irrigation or grade conditions, periodic monitoring, further testing, or removal when risk cannot be reduced to a reasonable level.

Structural defects

Included bark, codominant stems, cracks, overextended limbs and old failures.

Root and soil problems

Root loss, fill soil, compaction, waterlogging, drought stress and recent construction.

Health indicators

Crown thinning, dieback, pests, pathogens and changes in annual growth.

Targets and consequences

Homes, parking, play areas, roads and other places where failure would matter.
